1. Order Confirmation and Preparation
The buyer places an order with the supplier in China.
The seller prepares the goods for shipment (packaging, labeling, and documentation).
The seller and buyer agree on the delivery address in France and the DAP Incoterm.
2. Pickup of Goods in China
The seller arranges pickup directly from the factory or warehouse.
Goods are transported to the port, airport, or rail terminal for export.
3. Export Documentation and Customs Clearance in China
The seller prepares all necessary export documents, including:
Commercial invoice
Packing list
Export declaration
The seller completes export customs clearance, ensuring goods can legally leave China.
4. International Transportation
Goods are shipped to France via:
Sea freight (most common for bulk cargo)
Air freight (faster but more expensive)
Rail freight (used for certain routes, faster than sea)
During transit, the seller may provide shipment tracking and updates to the buyer.
5. Arrival in France
Cargo arrives at the designated French port, airport, or rail terminal.
Goods are ready for import customs clearance.
6. Import Customs Clearance in France (Buyer’s Responsibility)
Under DAP, the buyer is responsible for import duties, VAT, and taxes.
The seller provides all necessary documentation to help the buyer clear customs:
Bill of lading / airway bill
Commercial invoice
Packing list
Any other supporting documents
7. On-Carriage to Final Destination
After customs clearance, the seller arranges inland transportation in France (usually by truck) to the buyer’s specified location.
This ensures door-to-door delivery up to the agreed place.
8. Final Delivery
Goods are delivered to the buyer’s address in France.
Unloading at the destination is the buyer’s responsibility under DAP.
The buyer inspects the shipment and confirms receipt.
